An exciting Rice Raiser Challenge to involve people at your office or to invite your neighbours to!

 

Get On Board the Rice Raiser Campaign!

Want to do something to help people through the Rice Raiser Campaign? Imagine if you and people in your office or people in your neighbourhood could raise just $300.00. Look at how many people you could help with that much money:

  1. In Burundi, you could buy a family a real live cow for just $125.00!!    A cow normally costs about $500 for a cow, but for this project, the Canadian International Developing Agency is matching every $1 raised with $3!  WOW!!
  2. Plus, your office could help 10 children in Haiti to have a meal for two whole weeks! $63.00   This would help them to receive and education instead of working on the streets or as a slave in someone’s home.
  3. Plus, 10 children in North Korea can have a daily cup of Soymilk for an entire year! $64.00    This is their daily source of protein and a very important way to keep the orphans and kidergarten kids from being malnourished!
  4. Plus, 30 girls in Sudan will get a meal for 16 days at school – helping to ensure an education for them! $48.00  At .50 cents a meal, feeding 30 girls for 16 days should really cost $240, but becasue of the Canadian International Development Agency is matching every $1 with $3, that means that 5 children can receive a meal for just 50 cents!! Wowee!!

Hard to believe that $300 can help all these people, but it’s true! 

Now think about ways you can reach your goal of $300.

  • Take a collection
  • Ask everyone to collect their loonies or toonies in a cup for a couple of weeks.
  • Have a bake sale
  • Hold a lunch – chili, pizza, hot dogs or healthy soup and salad
  • Ask everyone to collect their bottles
  • Have a Garage Sale
  • Have a Department or a Family Challenge

  2. Set a start and finish time for your Rice Raiser Campaign Challenge.

Rice to feed people locally

Don’t forget to ask everyone to bring in a bag of rice to help feed people locally as well as globally! All the Rice collected will go to your local food bank to help people in need in your own community.

Report back!!

Rice Raiser Campaign The CHALLENGE Report 

  1. Add up the number of kilograms of rice in each bag and record the total before you take it to the food bank.
  2. Collect the money and send it to Hunger Response Int. PO Box 2514, Abbotsford, BC V2T 6R3 or, donate that amount on-line via Canada Helps (don’t forget to indicate that the funds go towards the Rice Raiser Challenge)
