Have A Rice Day on World Humanitarian Day

August 19th is World Humanitarian Day.

World Humanitarian Day is a celebration of people helping people. Every day humanitarian aid workers help millions of people around the world.
The day recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of those who risk their lives to give others help and hope. It is also about inspiring the spirit of aid work in everyone. Learn more at: http://ochaonline.un.org/whd/index.html

We believe there is a little humanitarian in all of us generating compassion and a desire to help those in need. There are people in need all around the world, even here in our own neighbourhoods. We also believe that since Canada is one of the world’s richest countries, we have a responsibility to learn about good development practices and lend our financial support to families who live in development countries far across the oceans. Together we can make this a better, safer world for all.

Most of us can eat three or more meals a day plus snacks in between. Setting aside one meal to focus on the hungry by only eating a simple bowl of rice helps us to identify with the nearly one billion people in the world who live on just one meal a day and sometimes even less than that.

Collector buttons are a great way to raise awareness and encourage others to participate in the HAVE A RICE DAY opportunities to care and share. Order yours today!

Order your collector button with a minimum donatoin of $5 and wear it proudly to help raise awareness. Then, substitute one of your regular meals for a simple bowl of rice and think about the millions of people who strive to survive on that much food or less each day!
