Have A Rice Day on International Day of the Family

A MOTHER’S HEART IS AT THE CENTRE OF FAMILY

May 15 is the International Day of the Family.
Many families around the world are separated because of hunger as parents and children travel far distances to find work.
Millions each year loose mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, and brothers due to hunger because their bodies are too weakened from malnutrition to fight off infection and disease.
This year we are connecting Mother’s Day and Family Day together and focusing on the love of a mother for her family.

MOTHER’S DAY – Sunday May 13, 2012

What is it that mothers are most concerned about? What is really important to them – their families, right?
For most mothers, their lives are centered around the welfare of their children – seeing that they are provided for an nurtured.

FAMILY DAY – Tuesday, May 15, 2012
A day to acknowledge and celebrate family:
What is it that keeps families together? What very important thinkg is there that enables them to stay together?
For millions of families, it is finances. Typically, its the mother who stays when one parent has to leave in order to find employment to feed and raise their family.

Hunger Response International invites you to honor your mom this Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13th by purchasing a button that recognises International Day of the Family. In doing so, you’re letting your mom know that you value your family and that you believe in the importance of families all over the world.

This $5 collector button will help the ongoing work of Hunger Response International as they seek to support families and children who live both locally and globally and struggle without enough nutritious food to eat.

Then, on Tuesday, May 15th, the International Day of the Family, plan to host a ‘Virtual Dinner Party’ and Have-A-Rice-Day to help a desperately poor family in Ethiopia.
Substitute one of your regular meals with a simple bowl of rice and make a financial donation to Hunger Response International.

As your family gathers to eat your meal of rice, read A Mother’s Heart Story together and learn how your virtual guests lived in desperation on a garbage dump in Korah, Ethiopia and how their lives have been changed.

Talk about how much your family would like to commit towards helping someone like them. Your donation will be helping a family who is still stuck in that place and 100% of your donation will go towards helping one of these families!
